The Sonification of Human EEG and other Biomedical Data Workshop
This website provides information about the tutorial held by
Thomas Hermann and
Gerold Baier at ICAD 2006 on 2006-06-19 (see
(ICAD website).
Biomedical Data Sonification is a rapidly growing application field of auditory display, with applications in
- data monitoring (e.g. online EEG sonification),
- rapid data scanning (e.g. overview of psychotherapy sessions via sonification),
- data exploration (e.g. differential diagnosis of EEG pathologies)
- bio-feedback (e.g. sonification for training movement patterns in physiotherapy
In the tutorial, we aimed at giving novices as well as experienced sonification users a refreshing view of data sonification from an exploratory data analysis perspective. Existing sonification techniques for biomedical data have been presented with sound examples. In addition, relevant concepts from data mining and biomedical data visualisation have been discussed in the light of their possible use of sonification.
